John Merrill Kirkman shares a powerful message about the connection between our thoughts, our faith, and the life we create. Drawing from Marcus Aurelius, Dale Carnegie, scripture, and the story of Nephi building the ship, this episode reminds listeners that thoughts rooted in fear lead to doubt, while thoughts rooted in faith lead to growth and possibility. Through Jesus Christ, we can challenge negative thinking, remember our divine worth, and align our minds with truth instead of fear. What you repeatedly think about matters—and faith-filled thoughts can change your life.

This is John Merrill Kirkman with Welcome with the Savior Podcast Daily Episode. The Stoic philosopher and Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius once said, Our life is what our thoughts make it. That's powerful because it reminds us that the battle for our life is often a battle in our mind. Dale Carnegie expanded that idea when he said, If we think happy thoughts, we will be happy. If we think miserable thoughts, we will be miserable. If we think fear thoughts, we will be fearful. If we think sickly thoughts, we will probably be ill. If we think failure, we will certainly fail. If we wallow in self-pity, everyone will want to shun and avoid us. End of quote. That's direct, but it points to something real. The thoughts we repeat begin to shape the life we live. The scriptures teach a similar principle. In Proverbs 23:7, we read, As he thinketh it in his heart, so is he. There's a powerful story in the Book of Mormon that shows this in action. When Nephi was commanded to build a ship, his brothers mocked him. They said, We cannot, we are not able. Their thoughts were filled with doubt, and it shaped their response to God's command. But Nephi responded differently. He didn't deny the challenge, but he directed his thoughts towards God. He said, I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded. For the Lord will provide a way. His thoughts were anchored in faith, not fear. Same situation, same difficulty, but completely different outcomes because of how they thought. And that connects to how Jesus Christ sees us. He says, Remember, the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. That includes you. God does not define you by your doubts or failures, he defines you by your divine worth and potential. So when a thought comes like, I can't do this or I'm not enough, pause and ask, is that how God sees me? Is that how Jesus Christ sees me? If not, it's not a thought you need to keep. Replace it with truths. I am a child of God. I can do hard things with Him. I'm not finished yet. Over time, as your thoughts align with God's truth, your life begins to change quietly, steadily, and powerfully. Because your life really does become what your thoughts make it, especially when those thoughts are rooted in faith in Jesus Christ. Thanks for checking out Walking with the Savior Podcast daily.
