John Merrill Kirkman shares a powerful lesson from the story of the 12 spies in the book of Numbers, showing how two people can face the exact same challenge yet walk away with completely different perspectives. While 10 spies focused on fear and obstacles, Joshua and Caleb focused on God’s power and promises. This inspiring daily episode reminds listeners that what we focus on shapes what we believe—and what we believe shapes our future. The giants may be real, but God is greater.

What are you focusing on? This is John Merrill Kirkman with Walk In with the Savior Podcast Daily Episode. In the book of Numbers, chapter 13 and 14, 12 spies are sent to explore the promised land. All twelve see the same land, the same cities, the same giants, the same fruit, the same walls. But they don't come back with the same message. Ten spies say, We can't do it. The people are too strong. The obstacles are too big. Two spies, Joshua and Caleb, say, Yes, it's hard, but the Lord is with us. We can do it. We can do it. Same situation, same facts. Completely different conclusions. Why? Because the ten spies measured the problem against themselves. Joshua and Caleb measured the problem against God. Woo! The ten spies focused on fear, and their fear spread. Joshua and Caleb chose faith even when they stood alone. Reminds me of the old veggie tells. Something like that. My God is bigger than the boogeyman. And here's the lesson. What you focus on will shape what you believe. And what you believe will shape what you do. If we focus only on our challenges, the walls, the giants, the obstacles, the mountains we have to climb, we'll feel small, overwhelmed, and stuck. But if we remember who God is, who Jesus Christ is, his power, his promises, his miracles, his creations, we begin to see differently. Joshua and Caleb didn't deny the giants, didn't deny the walls, didn't deny the obstacles. They just believed that Jesus Christ was bigger. That God was bigger. So when you face something hard, a fear, a challenge, a moment where you feel not enough, you're holding two reports in your mind. One says you can't. The other says with God you can. The question is, which report will you believe? Because your future will often follow that choice. Thanks for checking out Walking with the Savior Podcast daily.
